From K-3 teachers: please make sure your child has all winter gear each day so students are prepared to go outside for recess on any given day. Students must have a hat, gloves, snow boots, and snow pants in order to be able to play in the snow. All students are welcome to keep an extra pair of gloves and a hat here at school! Thanks for your cooperation!
Attention Parents:
February Calendar packets will be sent home Thursday with the youngest child in the family. The packet includes: The February school calendar of events, Cottage Inn fundraiser flier, Parent's Night Out flier, Snowball Dance flier, and a double sided flier for Literacy Night. Please check with your youngest child for this information tomorrow and contact your child's teacher if you do not receive it.
Due to an increasing number of student illnesses and additional confirmed cases of influenza A and B, Hillsdale Preparatory School will be closed on Thursday 1/23 and Friday 1/24 in order to take action to prevent the further spread of germs. All before and after school care, as well as any after school activities are cancelled for these days as well.
Recommendations from the Health Department with preventive actions are being sent home with your child today. Please check backpacks this afternoon for this information. In addition to those recommendations, we suggest washing student backpacks and coats, as well as wiping down school supplies such as folders, binders, books, etc.

The School Improvement Committee meeting originally scheduled for this evening at 5pm has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 12th at 5pm.
Cases of both Influenza A and Influenza B have been confirmed at HPS. Classrooms and common areas were properly cleaned and sanitized yesterday. Because the flu and other viruses are highly contagious, we are asking that you keep your child home from school, and report their absence to the school office should they have any of the symptoms below. If you suspect that your child has the flu, please consider having them see a doctor for confirmation and treatment. Additionally, please follow doctor recommendations and our school's wellness policy when
-Fever or feeling feverish
-Achy muscles, especially in your back, arms, and legs
-Runny or stuffy nose
-Sore throat
-Cough
-Chills and sweats
-Weakness and fatigue
-Headaches
-Vomiting or diarrhea (more common in children)

Tomorrow will be crazy hair day for $1.00.
The 8th-grade class is sponsoring a crazy hair day for $1.00 on Friday, January 17th to help raise money for their field trip to Washington D.C. We hope to see a lot of wild and crazy hair on the 17th.
The January calendar has two popcorn days listed. However, these two days have been removed because popcorn has not been a productive fundraiser.
Thursday, January 16th there will be a mandatory meeting for all 8th-grade parents at 4:30 in Mrs. Kuenzer's room to discuss the 8th grade trip to Gettysburg and Washington D.C. Students do not need to attend.

At the November Board Meeting a motion was passed to cancel the December and January meetings. A combined meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 7 at 5:00pm.
Just to clarify the concert tonight is at Hillsdale Prep.
Tonight is the Christmas Concert. Students should be dropped off between 5:30 and 5:45 in the gym building. Students should wait in their assigned classrooms until the concert starts. All classrooms will be labeled by grade level. We can't wait to see everyone tonight!
