welcome back

August 5, 2024

Dear Patriot Parents,

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! Hillsdale Preparatory School is excited for the things we have in store for the new year.  Our staff has been hard at work preparing the building for your child(ren) to return. We have also been reviewing past practices and input from our spring parent survey to determine ways that we can improve your child’s experience at Hillsdale Prep. Setting goals and overcoming challenges will be the central ideas that you will hear often throughout the school year.

Enclosed you will find a letter from your child(ren)’s teacher, supply lists and calendar for the upcoming school year.  Also included is a copy of the dress code.  Please ensure that all of your child’s uniform pieces meet the dress code, as it will be strictly enforced this year.  The clothes closet is open during office hours for families to purchase uniform items for $1 per item.  We also accept gently used uniform pieces for a 1-1 trade.

In addition to receiving notifications for important information from the school, we are also adding a feature called Rooms to our school communication system.  Included in this packet in a flier telling you how to download our school App and get registered for Rooms.  Rooms will allow for two-way communication between parents and the schools, including your child’s teacher.  We encourage all families to use this new platform.

The student handbook will be emailed to each family electronically.  You can also find it under the Documents section of our website.  Please take the time to read and familiarize yourself with the policies outlined in the handbook.

We have been busy this summer interviewing candidates and determining the perfect fit for each staff position. Please see staff assignments and contact information for the 2024-25 school year below.

Programs and Services

Hillsdale Preparatory School will once again be hosting staff and students from the Hillsdale County Intermediate School District’s MoCI and ASD classrooms.  We are excited to continue this partnership and welcome these students into our classrooms and school community.

Hillsdale Preparatory School will once again offer clubs after school for the 2024-25 school year.  Clubs will begin in September this year, so be mindful that there will be no clubs during the first weeks of school.  Clubs are run by staff, parents and community members on a volunteer basis. If you, or someone you know is interested in running a club, please stop by the Parent Teacher Collaborative (PTC) table at Open House to volunteer to run a club.

You may have seen school buses in the back parking lot of the school.  Hillsdale Preparatory School purchased two used buses, with the intention of providing transportation to students for the 2024-25 school year.  There will be one bus route that services all students wishing to take advantage of this service.  The route will include some community stops to best serve the most students.  The route will be shared with families before school begins.  The second bus will be a backup to ensure that transportation can be provided seamlessly during the school year.  Included with this letter, you will find a form to register for transportation.  If your children will be riding the bus, please complete the form and return it to the office M-F 8am-4pm.

Did you know that Hillsdale Preparatory School will be offering free PreK this year?  We are excited to be working with the Hillsdale County Great Start Collaborative to open up our first Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) classroom in September.  Students are being registered on a first come, first serve basis.  Please visit http://www.greatstarthillsdale.com/preschool-sign-up.html to complete the interest form and select Hillsdale Prep as your location preference.

Upcoming Dates

  • Open House will be held on Monday August 19th at 6:00pm.  All students and parents should report to the gymnasium at this time for staff introductions.  Following introductions, students will go with their teacher to the classroom to explore while parents stay in the gymnasium for a brief parent meeting led by Mrs. Fowler.  This is a great opportunity for your child(ren) to meet their new teacher, see their classroom and drop off school supplies.  Please plan to attend.

  • 1st Day of School- Tuesday August 20th

  • Parent Teacher Collaborative (PTC) Meeting- Wednesday August 21st @ 5pm

We look forward to another excellent start to the school year!
