Mission Statement
Hillsdale Preparatory School's mission is to cultivate a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that empowers every child to reach their full potential. Through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to excellence, we strive to instill a love for learning, foster critical thinking skills, and equip students to become compassionate, responsible citizens prepared to positively impact their communities and beyond.
The HPS Difference
Hillsdale Preparatory School embodies a school community that fosters unity, compassion and strength. Known as “The Family School”, Hillsdale Prep students, parents and faculty have a strong bond that is hard to compete with. By working together and accepting one another, all members of the HPS community learn to build relationships that are centered on respect, trust and loyalty.
HPS believes that school success revolves around strong communication. From the Head of School to the teachers, parents can expect to be continuously informed of their child’s academic progress, information about things happening in the classroom, and school-wide events. It is our belief that no parent should only hear from their child’s school when something is wrong. Our teachers strive to make biweekly phone calls to all students, which often include positive comments. The Head of School has an open-door policy, and welcomes parents to provide feedback and help develop solutions together when challenges arise. Hillsdale Preparatory School uses a variety of ways to communicate with families such as social media, text messages, newsletters, letters, email and phone calls. We live by the motto “When we know, you know” which allows students and their parents to truly feel like they are an important part of their educational experience.
Large class sizes of over twenty students often cause schools to teach to the average student and miss the needs of the advanced and struggling students. That is why Hillsdale Preparatory School is committed to keeping class sizes small. With average class sizes of 15 students, Hillsdale Prep students receive an education that is catered to each of them. Teachers know the individual needs of their students and are able to provide the help to every child in their class.
Education is not a one size fits all plan. That’s why Hillsdale Preparatory School creates a plan for every child. Teachers understand their students’ strengths and challenges, what they need academically and socially and what strategies work and don’t work with your child. These plans are developed with the whole-child in mind and information is passed on each year so that every student starts off the beginning of each year with success because they have a plan that works for them!
